The TowerRAID TR8U-B is an 8-bay storage enclosures for high capacity storage needs. With built-in ventilating protective screen front panel, both units utilize cable-less backplane-design to support up to eight hard drives. Hard drives are installed on easy access hard drive trays for simple insertion and removal. Hard drive cooling is provided by a large 4.7¡¦cooling fan located on the back of the units. The TR8U-B features JBOD mode for individual hard drive access. In addition to JBOD, both units support three different spanning modes, including 1 spanning set for 8 hard drives per set, 2 spanning sets for 4 hard drives per set, and 4 spanning sets for 2 hard drives per set. Storage modes could be selected via an easy access dip switch located on the back panel. Both units are environmental friendly with Auto-Power option, where the unit powers on only when the connected computer is on. Units are available in black (TR8U-B) and silver (TR8U) finish.
